First Winds of Spring by Randy Raine-Reusch
First Winds of Spring
Written for any number of performers and any instrument, this score can be performed in any manner the performer wishes, including aurally, visually. kinesthetically, synesthetically, interactively, literally, symbolically, or philosophically.
A deep awareness of the seasonal wind is suggested, as well as the performer’s surroundings and the soundscape.
The performer may wish to sit sensing the wind for a long time.
This score can be performed by playing only the pitches indicated, or by playing all pitches except the pitches indicated, but always with the awareness of the movement of the wind, and what it carries.
Randy Raine-Reusch’s simple yet effective score. Ensemble Mujirushi: Gerry Morita, dance; Michelle Milenkovic, mezzo-soprano; Charles Stolte, alto sax; Jerry Ozipko, bowed music stand; Feliks Plawski, visuals. 24 January 2009, New Music in New Places series, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
